A little bit about me…

Who is Gill Moses?

(pronouns for me are: she/her)

Love brought me from Northumberland to East Clare in 2000.  My husband is a Galway man, and we settled down in the village of Feakle to raise our family.

What I love is embracing my creativity and this happens best when I get out in nature.  I like nothing more than a walk in the beautiful bogland or forestry trails nearby.

I’ve always been an avid writer and currently write with the Inis Creative Writers’ Group.

I love movement and dance.  I love the simple pleasures of a good cup of coffee and a slice of homemade cake!

Why did I become a Celebrant?

When I left my social work career of 25 years, I knew I wanted to pursue something that would combine my knowledge, skills and love of creativity, writing and connecting with people in a meaningful way.  I found the Academy of Modern Celebrancy and signed up for all three trainings – weddings, namings & funerals, and qualified as a Master Celebrant in 2024. I love helping to give voice to someone’s story.

You can listen to me talking about my new career as a Celebrant in my interview on Scariff Bay Radio.

Listen, and you will realize that we are made not from cells or from atoms.  We are made from stories.”

Mia Couto

And because I can’t blow my own trumpet, here’s a vote of mega confidence from my Celebrant trainer:

She is a confident and professional performer, with open body language and she brings a certain calmness to the room, which means watching Gill lead a ceremony is a very enjoyable experience. Her narrated storytelling is as strong as her written style – full of love and energy, warmth and kindness, she is so well suited to being a celebrant!

Some FAQs:

Q.  Does Gill conduct legal marriages?

A.  No, I offer choice when it comes to your Wedding Ceremony. Some people don’t want the specific wording that is included in a legal marriage.  Some couples want more freedom for their wedding location.  There are restrictions about location & venue for a legal marriage.

All the information you need about how to register a birth, death or marriage can be found HERE

Q.  Is Gill a Humanist Celebrant?

A.  No, I am an Independent Celebrant. Inclusion is important to me.  Some people may want to include words from a faith tradition in their Ceremony and I am more than happy to voice those words.  This may not be possible in a Humanist led Ceremony.  For me, it is important that your Ceremony reflects YOUR belief system, not mine and for that reason I have chosen to offer my Celebrant services as an independent. You can read more about why choosing an Independent Celebrant is one way of truly representing your values here.

WANT SOMETHING TRULY UNIQUE…?

I have a talent, it’s a beautiful thing,

It’s not that everyone listens

when I start to sing.

No, it’s a talent I have

to say things in rhyme,

To capture a moment and

help it to shine.

I grew up listening to nursery rhymes and it is as though rhyming couplets are in my bones.  For many years I have written rhyming stories to perform at retirements and other celebrations.  I can create part of your Ceremony as a poem that is printed as a little book, including photographs of your choice.  A bespoke gift, and truly original memento of your special day.
